Description

the each finely potted hemispherical bodies gently rising to a short waisted neck, each incised with three circular medallions enclosing a stylised archaistic dragon design, applied overall with a soft reddish-pink glaze with areas of characteristic mushroom-coloured mottling and green speckles, the countersunk base glazed white and inscribed with the six-character mark in underglaze-blue

Condition

The waterpot on the RHS has two hairline cracks extending down from the neck, the longer being an inverted 'Y'-shape extending approx 8cm down to the foot. There is further associated hairline crack to the glaze on the interior. The waterpot on the LHS, there is cracking from the foot across approx two thirds of the body, and associated cracking to the glaze on the interior. The restoration is well done, not over masking the cracks with paint. The color on both pieces is brighter than in the catalogue illustration. The greens are also brighter.
