Catalogue Note

In the 1830's the Imperial Porcelain Factory under Nicholas I turned to historical romanticism and eclecticism. The decoration scheme seems reminiscent of the taste for pseudo-Gothic decoration, as can be found on famous Imperial Porcelain Factory services such as the Gothic Service and the Kremlin service.
