Description

  • some with pentagram marks in underglaze-blue, impressed shield marks, incised letters and numerals

  • the coffee pot and cover: 24cm., 9 1/2 in.
each piece finely painted, possibly by Josef Lerch, with a landscape vignette of a pair of birds perched on the branch or at the base of a leafy tree, further decorated with scattered birds and insects, the spouts moulded with scrollwork, comprising:
a coffee pot and cover
a slop bowl
a sugar bowl and cover
a milk jug
six cups and six saucers

Catalogue Note

The treatment of the leaves on the branches is similar to a teapot and cover in the Bäuml Collection, attributed to Josef Lerch, and published by Alfred Ziffer, Nymphenburger Porzellan Sammlung Bäuml, no.477.
