in boulle de savon, each ovoid form with flared neck and square foot, applied with matt and polished swan-neck and acanthus-moulded ormolu handles, set on a stepped square pedestal foot moulded with stiff-leaves, the clock with enamel dial and detachable pendulum

Similar opalines in boulle de savon glass were made both in France and Russia. It can be difficult, therefore, to distinguish between the products of the two countries.
