A German enamelled craftsmen's Humpen
probably Franconia, dated 1655
of greenish tint, the cylindrical form with applied footring and kick-in base, painted with two men, possibly bakers, standing beside a flaming oven, one bearing a long rod, the other with a circular tray, within a covered building, the reverse with a hunter bearing a rifle on his shoulder flanked by two hounds, inscribed and dated 1655, all within painted bands
