Catalogue Note

This particular pair of vases were entered in the Minton record books as being completed on 10th April 1888. Although the Minton factory did not exhibit at the Paris Exhibition of 1889, the retailer Thomas Goode did exhibit another pair of vases by Birks decorated with the months of the year in a different shape. These can now be seen in the Brighton Museum. The present pair of revolving vases may have been sold before the Paris Exhibition took place. If not, they could well have been exhibited at Chicago in 1893, although there is no evidence to confirm this as detailed information about this exhibtion is hard to come by.
