circa 1728-30
of globular form with scroll handle and long spout heightened in gilding, each side painted in Schwarzlot with a Kauffahrtei scene of merchants and their wares by a quayside, within a gilt scrollwork cartouche filled with Böttger lustre and embellished with purple scrollwork incorporating figures and trellis panels, divided by sprigs of purple indianische Blumen, all below a formal gilt border, the domed cover with a continuous landscape scene surmounted by a gilt ball knop

Catalogue Note

A teabowl and saucer from the same service is in the Hoffmeister Collection, Hamburg (published by Dieter Hoffmeister, Meissener Porzellan des 18. Jahrhunderts Katalog der Sammlung Hoffmeister, vol.I, no.74). The slop bowl and two chocolate cups and saucers were sold in these Rooms, 2nd March 1982, lots 58 and 59, and another chocolate cup and saucer were sold from the Otto Höffer Collection by Christie's London, 5th July 2004, lot 21.
