Canvas is lined. SURFACE: while surface is compressed from relining, retention of details and colors are good; areas of surface are somewhat thinned (right part of canvas)--but there is still good pigment retention at the left and in more thickly painted areas UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: there are definitely scattered strokes of inpainting throughout, but it's very difficult to see extent through old varnish
