Description

  • Giovanni Battista Tiepolo
  • A Satyr and a Putto
  • oil on canvas.
  • 15 by 21 1/4 in.
  • 31 by 54 cm.

Condition

Lined canvas. The surface is stable but with fine craquelure throughout; some paint loss along the right edge and at the center of upper edge has been visibly repainted. Under UV light: the old varnish has been unevenly cleaned, thus making it difficult to detect inpainting. The putto seems to have a few small retouches, however the most amount of inpainting can be seen at center of left edge; other areas along the upper and right edges.
