gilt bronze and ivory, modelled as a young woman dressed in a clinging robe and raised on gilt metal and brown onyx base

Condition

A decorative model of good overall appearance. One or two minor cracks to her face. Minor old marks, scratches and blemishes consistent with age. There is a build up of dirt to the crevices. With a good quality base. A good example of this rare model. Please note that this lot contains ivory which may be subject to export and import restrictions. For example, ivory cannot be imported into the United States. Your attention is drawn to the Endangered Species section in the Guide for Prospective Buyers at the back of the catalogue (Section 4).

Catalogue Note

The mark on this piece is for G. Mansard, a Paris foundry used by Chiparus on some of his early pieces.  `Favourite' appears with this mark, see Shayo, op.cit. p.58.
This figure also appears without the robe under the title, `Favourite Unveiled'.
