teak and black simulated leather, on inverted V-form legs

Condition

With old marks, scratches and knocks. Leatherette worn to edges and with some holes and splits. One corner is split across, at front left facing. White numbering 'CR 22/12' to legs and front edge of seat. Back very slightly loose; otherwise of good structural condition.

The design of the side aspect of this piece is in the Fondation Le Corbusier, Paris, reproduced here. Also illustrated is a pencil sketch of a courtroom chamber, signed by Le Corbusier, which shows the benchs in plan and from the side. The inverted V-form legs seen in the current lot are visible and which underlines Le Corbusier's close involvement with the project.
