  • A bronze figure of the Mourning Virgin
on later wood base

Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is very good with some minor wear to the patina consistent with age. There is a visible section at the elbow of the proper right arm and a few spots of greening on the veil behind the proper right arm.

Catalogue Note

The broad swept up drapery, the treatment to the hands and the distinctive pleated veil swept back from her head can be compared with work attributed to the workshop of Girolamo Campagna as illustrated by Planiscig.
