Catalogue Note

The Joinville Vignory workshop was active from the closing years of the 14th century until the mid 15th century, situated in the Marne Valley. Helga Hoffman attributed over sixty sculptures to this workshop. Stylistically the present fragment can be compared with others from this workshop in particular the gisant of Jean Chintral now in the museum at Epinal, the retable of Chaource and a relief in the Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore.
