Description

  • 22cm., 8 5/8 in.
the ovoid bowl with gilt rim, decorated with the coat-of arms of the Veltheim family of Schloß Destedt, inscribed VIVE LE COUSINAGE, flanked by a lady holding a pair of flaming hearts and a gentleman holding a burning torch, inscribed UNIS PAR NOUS in a ribbon above, standing on ledges inscribed AMITIE and HYMEN,  the reverse with the winged figure of Chronos inscribing a tablet En Memoire des Noces celebrees a Schwõbber le. 21. et 25me Novembre 1766, above a faceted knopped stem and folded domed foot
