Condition

The actual painting isa little less red in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The panel, which consists of three planks, joined vertically, is cradled. The joins are visible to the front and are retouched. The painted surface is under a fine layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. No major damages seem to be apparent, although an overall thinness can be observed. Small scattered retouchings can be seen throughout the composition, e.g. in the background, in the collar, in the face and in the coat. This is all confirmed under ultra violet light. Offered in a cabinet style black wooden frame, in fair condition(ML).
