The actual painting is softer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas is relined (glue). One horizontal fold can be seen upper centre, otherwise the painted surface seems to be in good condition. The painted surface is under a fine layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. There is a very fine craquelure pattern. A few discoloured retouchings can be seen lower right and upper left. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals these as well as one tiny one in the forehead of Mary, a few tiny ones in her hand, her neck and a few tiny ones in the background. Offered in a giltwood frame, with the label of Sassoferrato on top, in good condition. (ML).
