Description

  • bearing old Russian collection label for the Anichkov dvorets, St. Petersburg, on the back
  • ca. 31 by 23.5cm.
decorated in hues of yellow, ochre, green and blue with the Nativity of Christ and adoration of the angels, in the background the annunciation of the shepherds; in a later carved gilt frame

Condition

Overall in good, untouched condition. Some rubbing to the glaze at the rims, one larger glaze pit to upper left (ca. needle head size), some underglaze imperfections due to manufacturing process, one very minor (hardly visible) damage to the glaze within seam of right angel's garment; the reverse allover with fine hairlines within the glaze, one larger round firing flaw (ca. 1cm.) underglaze at lower right, glaze pits, one small old shallow chip to left rim.
