Description

the middle section with central clock above gilt bronze mount depicting a classical scene, flanked by caryatids and two hinged doors, between two hinged fronts opening to drawers with enamel handles, cylinder opening to reveal an interior, the lower part with central drawer, flanked by two doors both opening to two drawers with enamel handles, back also veneered and with caryatids, on square tapering legs, clock with countwheel bell striking anchor, movement lacking silk suspended pendulum, signed Bechot

Condition

Minor veneer damage, several wood cracks, brass strip loose at back and missing at left side, possible restorations at small bottom drawers, no key, one foot missing bottom brass cap. Pendulum for clock missing, movement in working order might benifit from a clean, chapter ring with hairline cracks between I and II and between V and VII, holes in the dust cover suggest that this movement belonged to another case, movement loose, not fitted to case, pendulum lacking, clock and bureau in overall good condition
