Catalogue Note

The cypher is that of Mary Queen of Hanover, Princess of Sachsen-Altenburg (1818-1907) who married George V, King of Hanover (1818-78) on 18 November 1843. The monogram is that of her daughter Mary Ernestine Josephine Adolfine Henriette Therese Elisabeth Alexandrine, Princess of Hanover. Lady of the Imperial Order of the Crown of India. Born at Hanover 3 December 1849 died unmarried at Gmunden 4 June 1904. She was the 2nd daughter of George V King of Hanover by his Consort Mary Princess of Saxe-Altenburg
