- 2837gr., width 37cm. overall
on four scroll feet, the body and cover chased with ribs and flutes bud finial, engraved on body and stand with the arms accollée of Hanover and Saxe-Altenburg, also engraved on body and cover with the cypher of Marie Queen of Hanover (1818-1907) (3)

Condition
In overall good condition small scratches of use, the gilding inside partly worn. The screw of finial fixed with plumb. Marked at the reverse of body

Catalogue Note
The arms are those Hanover and Saxe Altenburg for George V King of Hanover and his consort Marie Princess of Saxe-Altenburg who were married on 18 November 1843.
Mary Queen of Hanover Princess of Saxe-Altenburg (1818-1907) married George V King of Hanover on 18 November 1843. She was the eldest daughter of Joseph, Duke of Saxe -Altenburg: her full name being Alexandrine Mary Wilhelmine Catharine Charlotte Therese Henriette Louise Pauline Elisabeth Frederica Georgina. Her first-born son Ernest Augustus (1845-1923) succeeded his blind father as Head of the Royal House of Hanover. She died at Gmunden, Austria and was buried there, whereas her husband was laid to rest in St. George's Chapel, Windsor in 1878.
