The actual painting is a bit lighter in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas is relined. The paint surface has grown thin and has become pressed.
Many faces and figures and robes are strengthened, visible to the naked eye. A large area of overpaint can be seen in the lower right, which has resulted in a few small cracks. Another large repaired tear can be seen left of the centre. There is an old dirty varnish.
Inspection under UV reveals many repaintings and retouchings..
