The actual paintings are warmer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The catalogue illustration does not show the entire paintings, which are octagonal and of similar size. Both canvasses are relined (wax) with stretcher marks slightly visible to the front. Both paint surfaces seem to be in very good condition. A few retouchings can be seen in both paintings along the corners and edges. The picture which is not fully reproduced in the catalogue has one tiny dent upper left and one tiny paint loss lower right. It has some gilt paint from the frame along the lower edge. Both canvasses are under a fine layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals the retouchings as mentioned above. Offered in carved gilt octagonal wood frames, a few chips. (ML) "In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above.
