Description

Condition

The actual paintings are less yellow than the catalogue illustration suggests. Both canvasses are relined (glue) and are under a fine layer of dirt and discoloured varnish. A few paint losses can be seen lower right in the picture with the fountain to the left, as well as retouchings along all edges. One repaired damage can be seen in the lower left corner. The picture with the fountain to the right shows discoloured retouchings along all edges. A vertical scratch can be seen running along the right edge, which has resulted in some paint losses. A larger repaired damage can be seen in the upper right of the centre. One small crease can be seen centre left. Inspection under ultra violet light reveals the retouchings as mentioned above and a few additional retouchings in both centres. Offered in carved wood frames, a few chips. (ML)
