  • A series of 13 autograph letters in the third person to Viscount Hardinge (1785-1856), Field Marshal and Commander-in-Chief of the Army
mostly concerning senior military appointments during the Crimean War including those of Sir George Cathcart, Lord Gough, Thomas Napier, and Lord Raglan,  expressing concern over some proposed promotions including that of Charles Nasmyth following his bravery in Silistria ("...This step is not without very grave inconveniences as a precedent...") and disapproval of changes to the relative precedence of regiments ("...The Queen has signed the ... papers with the exception of the one making the 33d a Royal Regiment. Considering that there are already so many 'Royal' [regiments] & that it would be inexpedient to have the Title of the 'Duke of Wellington's own' superseded by that of 'Royal West Yorks'..."), 27 pages, 8vo, docketing, Windsor Castle, Osborne, Buckingham Palace, and Balmoral, 17 October 1853 to 3 April 1855, pencil markings, dust staining, some integral blanks removed

I am enchanted with all I have seen...this dear little country is so peaceful - & so lovely... ") and visit to the King and Queen of Prussia, 4 pages, 8vo, Rosenau, 24 August 1845; autograph letter in the third person to Sir Howard Elphinstone sending him "a souvenir of her beloved Leopold" who was for a time under his care ("...It is an enammelled photograph..."), 2 pages, 8vo, with autograph envelope, Balmoral, 30 May 1884; an autograph note, apparently showing seating arrangements, 2 pages, 8vo; and a document signed, appointing William Deverson a Bedesman of Canterbury Cathedral, 15 August 1895
