First edition of this lyrical fairy story set in the Lake District of Sara Coleridge's childhood, inscribed by her to a friend of the family, and apparently god-mother to some of the Coleridge children, Miss Emily Trevenen, daughter of the Rev. Thomas Trevenen, rector of Cardinham in Cornwall. Derwent Coleridge, Sara's brother, was rector of Helston School, Cornwall between 1825 and 1841. Sara Coleridge (1802-1852), Samuel Taylor's fourth child and only daughter, was an author and translator in her own right.
