Yeats first met Robinson (1886-1958) as a young playwright in April of 1908. Robinson became manager of the Abbey Theatre in 1910; wrote many plays performed there; became a Director and later the primary manager of the theatre. In 1921 Yeats asked Robinson to be godfather to his first child, Michael Buter. Robinon later edited two Cuala Press books  (Poems by Thomas Parnell, 1927 and A Little Anthology of Modern Irish Verse, 1928); edited Lady Gregory's journals and the memorial issue of The Arrow in 1939; and wrote a history of the Abbey Theatre 1899-1951. Yeats dedicated Essays (Wade 141) to Robinson, and they remained in close touch over thirty years.
