Description

  • An Etruscan Polychrome Terracotta Antefix
  • Height 10 1/2 in. 26.7 cm.
in the form of the head of a maenad, with long wavy hair, her oval face with slightly smiling mouth and narrow wide-set eyes beneath delicate finely arched eyebrows, and wearing disk earrings and diadem decorated with flowering vines (ivy?), her head surrounded by a nimbus of tongues and flanked by scrolls and palmettes.
