first edition. In this treatise on universal commerce, Büsch is critical of eighteenth-century mercantilism, favouring instead a limited system of free trade and an international division of labour. He advocates unrestricted competition in internal trade, the gradual modernisation of the agrarian regime and hails the machine as encouraging mass consumption.
