folio (420 x 275mm.), tan morocco gilt, central cartouche composed of small floral and pointillé designs with central black morocco inlay, covers composed of gilt scrollwork designs and pointillé grounds, some of which are set on black morocco inlays, small cherub tool used four times on each cover, scrollwork at corners forming a perspectival frame, outer floral roll-tooled border, flat spine with black morocco strip inlays, small gilt stamps and pointillé designs, red silk endpapers, binding only, rebacked in period style, extremities slightly rubbed, central cartouche on upper cover chipped

Catalogue Note
This binding is similar in design to a group commissioned for Urban VIII (1623-1644) and for Alexander VII (1655-1667), particularly with regard to the scrollwork and, in the case of a binding for Alexander VII, with an identical cherub stamp.
