Catalogue Note

"Scotia me genuit, Anglia me suscepit,/Gallia me docuit, Colonia me tenet." Such was the (anonymous) epitaph for the "Subtle Doctor", whose metaphysical philosophy influenced more widely even than his memorial suggests. Edited by Luke Wadding and containing the commentaries of Lychetus, Ponce, MacCaughwell and Hickey, this was the first collected editon of Duns Scotus. The edition was reprinted in 1891-95 and again in 1968 under the auspices of the Scotist Commission.
