3 volumes in 2 (volume 3 bound with volume one), folio (381 x 233mm.), parallel Greek and Latin text, woodcut device on title-pages, woodcut head- and tailpieces and initials, old vellum over boards, blind-stamped strapwork design to centre of covers, spine gilt in compartments, brown morocco lettering-piece, old silk ties, light spotting and staining, a few tears with slight loss (not affecting text), binding worn, hinges cracking

Catalogue Note

For this edition, Estienne collated the earlier printed editions as well as returning to the manuscripts, although many suggested emendations appear only amongst the marginalia. The work was a scholarly success for Estienne, although a substantial financial failure.
