De subtilitate, first published in 1550, is an encyclopedia of natural science, "a mine of facts, both real and imaginary; of notes on the state of the sciences; of superstition, technology, alchemy and various branches of the occult" (DSB). The edition was divided between L'Angelier, Le Noir and Foucher.
