Catalogue Note

the first appearance in print of a work by archimedes. The treatises by Archimedes included in this short work, Quadratura paraboli and Quadratura circuli, are in the Latin translation of William of Moerbeke made in the thirteenth century (the original manuscript of Moerbeke's translations is now in the Vatican Library). The text for this edition was taken from a fifteenth-century Italian manuscript now in the Biblioteca nacional in Madrid.
