Catalogue Note
Picasso had created the designs for the first production of Stravinsky's ballet Pulcinella in 1920; the set design included here is a variant. This prospectus was issued for Boris Kochno's book on Diaghilev and the Ballets Russes, which was never published. Kochno (1904-1990) was Diaghilev's secretary from 1921 until the great impresario's death in 1929, and wrote the libretto for Stravinsky's opera Mavra (1922). A photograph of Kochno is included with this lot.
