Je ne crois pas, disait Zao Wou Ki il y a quelques années, que l' intelligence humaine, sans connaissance du monde, de la nature, puisse inventer des choses qui n'existent pas.
Avec Jardin Abandonné, tableau peint en 1955, Zao Wou Ki épure les images de la nature jusqu'à ce que le tableau suggére un paysage, plutôt qu'il ne le raconte.
