Condition

Colours: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is much brighter and more vibrant in the original. The catalogue illustration also fails to convey the true sense of depth in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is a light layer of dust adhering to the surface beneath the glass. There are very light rub marks at the top centre edge. There is a horizontal rub mark approximately 23cm. long in the sky in the centre left of the composition. There is a further rub mark right of this and pin-head sized indentations in places along the right half of the sky. All of these marks are visible only under close inspection and under a raking light. There is another rub mark towards the bottom centre of the top right hand quadrant. There is a horizontal crease approximately 6cm. long to the left of the left figure's nose. There are several small scratches; one to the right of the left figure's scarf, two to the right of the left figure's arm and one towards the bottom right corner of the upper right hand quadrant. There a few very faint hairline scratches towards the centre of the upper right hand quadrant, visible only under close inspection and under a raking light.
