Condition

Colours: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is stronger and brighter in the original. Condition: This work is in good condition. There is a horizontal hairline crack that runs along the right half of the extreme top edge and a further hairline crack approximately 4cm. long towards the centre of the top edge. There is another hairline crack towards the bottom left corner. There is a tiny media accretion at the bottom right corner tip and two further media accretions towards the centre left edge. There are a few handling marks with associated paint loss along the bottom edge and rubmarks throughout the composition. These are probably inherent to the artist's working process. There are two small areas of rub marks with paper residue; one towards the centre of the right edge and one towards the top centre of the upper right hand quadrant. There is a tiny patch of adhesive in the centre of the figure's nose, visible upon close inspection. No restoration is apparent under ultra-violet light.
