Condition

Colours: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant in the original and the red of the metal filaments tend more towards a post box red. Condition: This work is in good condition. There is slight wear to all four corner tips of the painted board. There are faint handling marks in places along the white border of the composition, notably at the extreme centre left edge of the lower left hand quadrant. There is a vertical rub mark approximately 6cm. long from the centre top edge. There are further minor rub marks and scattered media accretions in places along the turnover edges. There are tiny media accretions throughout, notably towards the centre of the composition, most of which are probably inherent to the artist's working process. There are several very faint scratches and rub marks throughout the painted area probably as a result of the impact of the hanging elements. There is wear with associated paint loss around the artist's screw hole at the top turnover edge, to which the metal filaments are attached. The metal filaments are in good condition with scattered minor wear and minute media accretions in places. The nylon wires are faintly discoloured. No restoration is apparent under ultra-violet light.
