Condition

Colours: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant in the original work. Condition: This work is in good condition. There is light wear and specks of paint loss to each of the four corners of the canvas. There are further small specks of paint loss in the following locations: one to the right of the triangle located in the upper left quadrant; to the bottom left of the vertical ellipse located in the lower left section of the upper right quadrant and a further paint loss due to a rub mark towards the centre of the right vertical edge. There are two faint rub marks toward the right section of the extreme top edge and a further rub mark to the top of the extreme left quadrant. There is stable fine craquelure in places throughout the blue pigment of the composition. There are scattered areas of circular non-intrusive surface residue in places around the composition, most visible in the following locations: to the bottom of the lower left quadrant in the blue paint; to the top of the blue half-moon crescent in the lower centre of the composition; to the bottom third of the right vertical edge of the composition and a larger area in the centre of the left right quadrant. There are some tiny fly spots towards the centre of the blue half-moon crescent in the lower centre of the composition and in between the two vertical oval shaped eggs in the lower left section, both of which are visible in the catalogue illustration. Upon very close inspection, there are two further areas of fly spots along the bottom edge of the lower left quadrant: one on each side of the black triangle facing down. No restoration is apparent under ultra-violet light.
