Condition

Colours: The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant with the black tending more towards a ruddy brown in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There are flyspots to the yellow paint in the top right hand corner. There is a very faint horizontal rub mark between the green and orange paint in the bottom right hand corner. There are networks of fine drying cracks to some of the black paint, notably towards the top left hand corner and towards the centre of the upper right hand quadrant. There are hairline cracks in places along all four turnover edges with an associated spot of paint loss to the centre right of the bottom edge. There are areas of light watermarks to some places scattered throughout the composition: notably to the centre of the extreme right hand edge, to the dark paint 3/4 down from the top right hand corner, to the blue paint in the top left hand corner, and to the black paint towards the upper and lower centre of the left hand edge. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.
