Condition

Colours: The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the tone of the white board tends more to pale cream in the original. The outer black border in the catalogue illustration is not part of the artwork, but is the black backround on which the artwork was photographed. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is a minute pin-size spot of foxing to the lower centre of the extreme left hand edge and a further pin size spot below the date in the bottom left hand corner. These are only visible upon very close inspection.

Catalogue Note

This important work is a rare example of Lewitt's most iconic image: the square. It was produced the same year as his seminal 'Incomplete Open Cube' series at the height of his creativity and influence on the art world.
