Condition
Colours:
The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant in the original. The yellows tend more towards a lemon yellow, the blues are more intense and the reds are slightly pinker in the original.
Condition:
The work is in very good condition and is composed of two canvases joined horizontally across the lower third of the work (visible in the catalogue illustration). There are light undulations down the right edge and the work is slightly loose on the stretcher. There are intermittent stretcher bar marks across the centre, and very slight stretcher marks to the top, left, right and lower edges. There are rub marks to each of the four corners, in places to each extreme edge and to the centre of the red circle on the right side of the work. There are a number of small isolated media accretions scattered throughout. On close examination a few scatttered matrices of surface cracking are visible to thicker passages of paint. There is light surface dirt throughout, notably to the extreme edges. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.
