Condition

Colours: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is deeper and richer, the purple background tends more to deep plum, the green used for the sitter's torso more to forest green in the original. The catalogue illustration fails to capture the glossy tactility of the impasto throughout the composition. Condition: The work is in very good condition. There are three irregularities to the paint surface in the upper right quadrant, above and to the left of the sitter's head, visible in the catalogue illustration. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.
