Condition
Colours:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly deeper in the original. The catalogue illustration does not fully convey the varying textures throughout the part (ii).
Condition:
This work is in very good condition.
(i) The sheet is very slightly undulated. There are scattered staple holes at intervals around all four edges of the work, some of which have associated paper skinning. The sheet has been trimmed at the lower part of the left extreme edge (15.5 cm approx). There is a tiny media accretion to the right side of the lower left quadrant and a horizontal fine and light rub mark to the upper edge. There is a slight crack to the plexi in the lower right corner, a few light rub marks to the left edge of the plexi exterior and a small crack to the lower right extreme corner. There are a few spots of residue adhering around the extreme edges of the plexiglass.
(ii) The upper right corner is slightly rubbed and there is a further horizontal rub mark to the lower centre of the right extreme edge. Light rub marks and handling marks are visible at intervals to the upper, lower, right and left extreme edges. There are a number of small media accretions to the lower right corner. There are two vertical rub lines of pigment to the left of the centre, possibly original to the work's execution. There is a small canvas indentation running from top to bottom to the right of the centre which the artist appears to have painted over, it is likely therefore to be original to the canvas. Some light surface dirt throughout, particularly to the edges. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.
