Condition

Colours: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly richer and warmer in the original. The catalogue illustration fails to convey the varied surface texture of the original. Condition: The work is in very good condition. There are scattered extremely fine and stable hairline cracks throughout the composition. There is a small spot of cracking with raised edges to the extreme lower right corner, with a tiny spot of lifted paint. Several small matrices of fine and stable craquelure are visible upon close inspection to the green pigment in the upper horizontal section of the work. In raking light there are scattered very fine and unobtrusive isolated rub marks to the resin surface. Under ultraviolet light a few small retouchings fluoresce to each of the four corners and a further spot of retouching to an indentation in the circular brown pigment in the lower right quadrant.
