The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although they fail to convey the textural variation throughout and impasto in the figure's hat in the original.
Condition:
The work is in good condition. There appears to be shrinkage to the pigment to the bottom of the figure's left arm which appears to be inherent to the work's media. There is some variation to the paint surface of the white lines of pigment on the right side of the figure's torso, though this also appears to be inherent to the artist's working practice. There is an extremely fine and unobtrusive network of stable craquelure to the black pigment in the lower part of the left eye. In a few places on the right of the hat the individual tube applied pigments are missing; elsewhere to the hat they are lifting very slightly. There is a very fine dusting of light surface dirt throughout. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.
