Condition
Colours:
The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although background grey tends more towards pale dove grey in the original. The catalogue illustration fails to convey the glossy paint texture of the black pigment in the centre of the work.
Condition:
The work is in very good condition. There are two tiny rub marks towards the bottom of the right extreme edge and a very small nick to the centre of the extreme right edge. There are two tiny indentations to the outer edge of the upper part of the left extreme edge, with minute associated cracks. Upon close inspection in raking light there is a further tiny unobtrusive light rub marks to the far left of the lower right quadrant. There are two minute pinprick-sized specks of paint loss to the left side of the lower right quadrant. A very small matrix of stable craquelure is visible on close inspection to the top right side of the lower left quadrant. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.
