Colours: The colours are fairly accurate to the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonality is deeper and richer with the red tending more towards deep crimson in the original. Condition: The work is in very good condition.There is some slight discolouration to the white background around edges of the red paint and the lower part of the black paint . The upper and lower right extreme corners are slightly rubbed and there are two further very small rub marks, towards the top of the left extreme edge and to the lower centre of right extreme edge. There are a number of very fine hairline tension cracks to the each of the extreme overturn edge. There are a few minor horizontal and diagonal cracks with raised edges throughout the thicker red paint and some further cracks with raised edges to the black sand impasto beneath the red paint. Three small spots of retouching fluoresce under ultraviolet light: a small square to the upper right corner, a very small patch along the center of the top edge, and four further small spots of retouching to the far left side of the upper edge.
