Literature
Max Loreau, Catalogue des Travaux de Jean Dubuffet, fasc. VI: Corps de dames, Paris 1987, p. 54, no. 71, illustrated
Condition
Colours:
The coloura are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonality is slightly softer and warmer in the original. The dark grey background around the figure is a lighter soft grey and the reddy-pink tones of the fugure are more grey-rose in the original. The catalogue illustraion fails to convey the different textures throughout the work.
Condition:
The work is in very good condition. There is a very small spot of paint loss to the extreme lower right corner. A few scattered networks of very fine and stable drying craquelure are visible upon close inspection to the composition. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.
