Condition
Colours:
The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration although the overall tonality is deeper and richer, with the orange tending more towards a brown-orange in the original.
Condition:
The work is in very good condition. There is a pin sized fly spot to the yellow shape in the upper left quadrant. There is some very light superficial dirt adhering to the surface of the composition. There is an extremely fine and stable tension crack running in places along the extreme top overturn edge and in a few places to the extreme right overturn edge. There are two small unobtrusive feather cracks towards the top right hand corne and a few minute isolated hairline cracks are visible upon close inspection to the brown-orange paint towards the centre of the upper half and another is visible to the brown paint towards the centre of the lower half of the composition.
There is a minute pin-prick sized speck of paint loss to the upper left and lower right corners, and a tiny spot of wear to the bottom left corner tip. A very minor media accretion can be discerned on close examination to the red paint towards the centre-left of the extreme top edge. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.
